(Does it work?)
As with all vacuum excavation equipment production rates are conditional upon the type of excavation and soil type. In some instances, the throughput for a Dino Series Suction Excavator can rival and exceed that of a hydrovac. However, the real benefits comes with the equipment staying on site all day, eliminating issues surrounding slurry disposal and eliminating overweight fines associated with typical vacuum equipment.
The Dino Series Suction Excavator will pull both dry and wet materials with ease. The ability to side tip wet materials at a controlled rate allows for disposal into roll off bins as well, which is a real advantage over rear tipping vacuum equipment. An Ox client running a DINO utilized the truck to manage a water main break and was able to fill the 12 m3 debris tank in less than 15 minutes.
(Is it safe?)
Yes. Gas Technology Institute (GTI) has conducted exhaustive testing on using air and vacuum for safe excavations. They concluded it is safe. https://sales.gastechnology.org/030128.html
The MTS equipment can be optionally equipped with a gas monitoring sensor system which monitors gaseous levels within side the hopped and will automatically shut the truck down in the event of certain gas concentrations.
All Dino Series suction excavators are equipped with a standard grounding reel, as well as an optional grounding system can be installed to monitor the trucks current potential during operations.
Our suction excavators are manufactured by MTS GbmH, who are known for their advanced and patented filtration technology. Each Dino Series suction excavator uses a bank of 42 conical polyester filters, with a micron rating of ≤0.1., and the system is HEPA combatable as well.
Yes. The front bumper is fitted with 4 sensors which will stop the truck immediately if any object or person comes within 3 feet of the truck. The trucks remote has a “dead man switch” which must remain manually engaged to move the truck. If the operator takes his finger off the truck, the truck with stop immediately.
The remote drive, or hydrostatic drive, is an option which allows the operator to move the equipment at a very low speed controlled via the wireless remote. The Front bumper is outfitted with remote sensors which with shut the trucks movement as well. The maximum speed of the ground drive is 4 KPH, and also allows the operator to steer the truck, which results in easier positioning of the unit in tight quarters. The system runs through an OMSI transfer case, so the fan system does not have to be disengaged to move the truck short distances, which saves on operator’s truck positioning time. It also allows for the unit to suction while moving.
The Power Arm and Mega Arm can rotate 180 degrees, which is deployed directly off the rear passenger side of the unit. This allows the operator to deploy the suction boom in tight urban environments without the possibility of impeding traffic.
The standard power arm has a reach of almost 17’, and the optional Mega arm extends a little over 20’. With additional extensions the boom can easily reach over 30’.
Under standard operating conditions, you can reasonable expect to operate effectively with 200 ft of flexible laydown hose. This capability of using hose for digs over 200’ from the truck, allows work to be done in backyards or other remote work applications when required.
Dino Series suction excavators come Equipment equipped with dual Mattei vane compressors. There are 4 regular air outlets off the back of the truck and 2 oiled air outlets available for use. You can run as much tooling as you like working @ 116 psi within the 320 cfm limit. Meaning the unit can easily operate air lances, pneumatic power shovels, pavement breakers as well as pogo tampers, which often eliminates the need to bring additional equipment to the job site.
Yes. The hopper is equipped with various deflector plates and chains to redirect and break apart material being vacuumed. When materials enter the hopper, finer materials are collected in the “fines” bin during the automatic filter cleaner process, and the resulting fines can be used during backfill process to “pad” the pipe.
MTS equipment is currently operating in the harshest of environments, including some of the hottest like the baked desert of California without any issues. Additionally, MTS have developed and installed a “desert package” with additional hydraulic cooling ability to take care of any potential overheating issues.
MTS equipment can operate in any temperatures, including very cold climates. However, excavating through frozen ground with only air will limit excavation abilities.
The side tipping capabilities of the Dino allow this equipment to dump all spoils into a 20- yard roll-off bin, or any bin with a maximum height of 5’ from the ground. The MTS Dino series is also available with a high tip option allowing loads to be dumped into a low boy dump truck. This allows the equipment to stay on-site all-day excavating. Its not cool using your awesome vacuum excavator as a dump truck!
Parts and maintenance
(how do I keep it running smoothly?)
Maintenance on the truck is standard, with scheduled maintenance every 500 fan hours. Typical semi-annual inspections on wear parts will help keep this equipment operating day in and day out. Daily service involves only grease and oil level checks, requiring little from the operators, and allowing them more time to get working.
We understand that maintenance is a key factor in any equipment purchase. We have invested in developing an extensive parts inventory, express shipping and locally placed logistics partnerships, as well as a skilled service/maintenance team with MTS factory trained technicians. As part of any purchase Ox has conducted extensive operator and maintenance training at your facility, using these same trained personnel.
Under standard operating conditions, and utilizing a proper maintenance schedule, you can reasonably expect the hose to last for 1 to 2 years
